01Why we started

InMato began with J.T. Bramlette. He watched families lose hours — sometimes days — just trying to learn where a loved one was being held and how to support them. The information was scattered across disconnected county, state, and federal websites, and predatory lookalike sites were always waiting to take advantage of people at their most vulnerable moment.

He believed no family should have to suffer through that just to send commissary money or set up a phone call. That conviction — to make a real difference for families in a moment of crisis — became the reason InMato exists.

02A partnership built in Utah

J.T. joined forces with his business partner, Steve Urry — a fellow Utah native — to turn that conviction into something families could actually use. Together they merged a clear vision — treat families with dignity and never profit from their fear — with the technology to make it real.

Based in Santa Barbara, California, the team built a single, trustworthy place to find a loved one and reach the facility's official, licensed providers — so families never have to guess which website is real or wonder where their money is going.

03What we built

Searching is free. Create an account, look up a loved one across the county jail systems we cover, and we show you the facility, its official commissary and phone providers, and the verified, step-by-step way to deposit. Your money goes straight to the official provider on their secure system — InMato never holds or processes it.

For families who want more, InMato+ adds booking and status alerts, bail-bond and attorney referrals, chaplain connections, and a private community — for $19.99 a month, cancel anytime, per loved one in custody. And for families navigating an active case, InMato+ includes real-time case tracking — the case file, alerts when a new docket is filed, court dates, and case status. Everything is available in English and Spanish, so more families can get help in the language they are most comfortable using.

04Where we are going

We are starting where families are most often overlooked — county jail systems — and bringing new counties online every month. The goal is bigger: to reach families in every state in the United States by the end of next year, and to keep expanding into state and federal facilities from there.

The mission behind every step is the same one we started with: a country where families no longer have to suffer just to help the people they love.
